U2 And Green Day Beaten To Number One By Westlife

Their track, the cover of The Skids’ ‘The Saints Are Coming’, was outsold by Westlife’s version of Bette Midler’s ‘The Rose’ – incredibly their fourteenth number one.

Elsewhere in the top ten, All Saints climbed to three with ‘Rock Steady’, Fedde Le Grand’s ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’ slipped to four, while Madonna’s ‘Jump’ entered at nine.

Over in the album chart, Jamiroquai stormed in at number one with his best of ‘High Times – Singles 1992 – 2006’, ahead of Angelis’ eponymous classical album.

Damien Rice charted at four with ‘9’, McFly made the lowly entry at six with ‘Motion in the Ocean’ and Paul Weller’s ‘Hit Parade’ entered at 7
